Schoodic Peninsula is part of Acadia National Park and is located 4 miles east of Bar Harbor as the crow flies.  It includes the towns of Gouldsboro and Winter Harbor.  It is about a 1 hour drive from Bar Harbor but is well worth the drive and is a “must see” activity for the family.

The Schoodic Loop is a 6 mile one-way loop around the Peninsula which offers view of light houses, seabirds, and forested islands.  Use the vehicle turn-outs to take in the views and for a photo op.  It is very enjoyable to bike the loop.  Bring a picnic lunch to have at Schoodic Pt.  There is nothing like sitting and watching the waves and surf activity.  Be cautious because the seagulls will want to share lunch with you.
